Carolina Sounds Beach Show

Saturday's

From 10:00 am to 1:00 pm

The Carolina Sounds Beach Show, hosted by veteran DJ Butch Halpin, has been entertaining people for over 25 years since its inception after Butch grew tired of working for others in the music business since 1976. The show is actually twofold: It is the name for the syndicated radio show as well as Butch’s mobile DJ business. As long as Butch can remember, there was always music in his life. Whether it was his mother playing records by Jim Reeves, Patsy Cline or Hank Williams, or his older sister listening to Buddy Holly, The Beatles and watching shows like Shindig and Where The Action Is, music was abundant in their home. It is no wonder that when he was old enough to earn his own money, he was buying more records than model cars. After graduating from high school in 1976, Butch began DJ’ing for clubs and private parties and got hooked on Beach Music after seeing a performance by The Catalinas. In 1989, he started his radio career at WLLN in Lillington, NC, hosting his newly created Carolina Sounds Beach Show. He later hosted the show for several years at WBZB in Selma, NC and on WLWL in Rockingham, NC and also on an Internet Radio service. The show is now syndicated on radio as well as on the Internet. Throughout the years, Butch has maintained his Mobile DJ business and has become a popular DJ in Beach Music as well as DJ & MC for all types of public and private functions. He has been nominated several times for the Carolina Beach Music Awards’ “Club & Mobile DJ of the Year” and won in 2001. He was also nominated for “AM Radio DJ” in 2002. From January 2009 to January 2010, Butch was also frontman and vocalist with The Souls. In 2012 he was inducted into the Beach Music Radio Hall of Fame and in 2013 inducted into the Carolina Beach Music Hall of Fame. When it comes to the music, Butch sums it up like this, “I am so lucky to be able to do something that I love and that people enjoy.” Listen to Butch Halpin & the Carolina Sounds Beach Show from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.  every
