The music is a collection of songs that bring back memories of Fun, Sun, and the Sand. Papa T’s is designed to place you back in a time of Parties, Summer and good times of falling in love. The time line of music is from the 1940’s to date. So, set back and enjoy the ride. The concentration of Papa T’s is Carolina Beach music. While popular in the southern part of the United States, it has a wide range of listeners all ages nation wide. In the late 1940’s and early 50’s, the south eastern part of the US was segregated. Therefore black artist songs were not getting much air play on the radio broadcasts. These songs were loaded in juke boxes at the beaches for everyone to listen. Teen agers would return to school after summer and say, Wouldn’t it be great to be able to hear some of the songs we heard at the beach. The term Beach Music was born. Along with the music, kids also developed a dance called the Shag. The Shag is a slowed down version of the jitter bug. This dance is enjoyed by old and young alike. Competitions are divided in age groups of professional and amateurs, annually across the country. The Shag hall of fame is located in North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.PapaTS is a one stop shop of information of music, artists, concerts, and events. October brings the Cammy Awards (Beach Music Awards) recognizing the years top artists and their music. December comes the collection of Christmas songs and local events. The new year brings in the Shag competitions soon followed by the Spring Safari. Springs Safari is the spring version of SOS.
